Yeah, I'm still here. Things are still pretty much the same. I'm going to school 3 nights a week, putting in my 2 job applications a week, going to as many of Shelby's basketball games as I can, being with Leo on the weekends... School is winding down. I had 2 finals this week, and one class next Friday, then done til January. I'm ready for a break from classes. Personnel Law and Legal Research were definitely work-intense. I am a little disappointed in the Personnel Law class. I was hoping to learn about things from the perspective of being an employee and if there was anything I could pursue with the way I lost my job. But the class was taught from the perspective of the employer and the author of the book we used was very biased. I told the teacher I didn't like the book and the way the author seemed to side against the employee. He said that he didn't really care for it either and he would be using a different book next time he taught the class. It doesn't seem like there's anything I can do about being eliminated like I was. Nebraska is an at-will employment state and either party can terminate the work relationship for good cause, bad cause, or no cause at all. Fine! Just gives me all the more reason to collect a full 6 months' worth of unemployment. I have learned soooooooo much in Digital Photography. 2 months ago when the camera was just this expensive piece of electronics in my hand, I really had no idea what I was doing. Now I understand the camera better (still not completely) can use all the settings and know how to set up for the shots I want. I much prefer the manual mode to pick my own settings and have taken some really nice shots. Next term starts Jan 6 and I will be taking 12 credits. The lawyer that has been our teacher for Legal Research, Legal Writing, and Personnel Law has been telling us about how he is opening a satellite office in Lincoln. His main office is in Omaha and apparently really backlogged due to not having a receptionist and he himself not having a paralegal. The Lincoln office is going to do tax work and other things. He was talking to a small group of us after class Wednesday and saying he really needed help getting correspondence out, making phone calls, updating clients, etc. I said, "Well, you have 2 unemployed people here in this class, bring stuff to Lincoln and put us to work!" All of that could be done from the Lincoln office, it wouldn't necessarily have to be done in Omaha. So, he said during the week between Christmas and New Year's he would try to get it going. Hopefully that works out. Start then, and then work for him through tax season and beyond with other stuff. He is also running for Senate and we could do campaign stuff for him if there was nothing else going on. We'll see what happens on that front. The "Big Birthday Plans" never materialized. Poor Leo! He would have stuff set up, and then either someone else would derail the plans by not being able to be there, or I would make plans not knowing he had things set up. So, a few weeks ago he conceded defeat and gave me a big sappy birthday card and a gift card. Leo and the psycho-bitch finally got an agreement worked out for their divorce, but Leo didn't get his way on much of anything. He was asking for $150 a month in child support, not much for 3 kids, and to keep the visitation as it is, which is 4 hours each day every third weekend when he works. In the agreement, he does not get any child support. And her lawyer wants to expand visitation to eventually include overnights and extended time during the summer. She is filing for mental disability because "her condition prevents her from holding a job." Hello? You aren't mentally capable of flipping burgers or slinging tacos but you're going to parent 3 kids overnight and for a week or two at a time during the summer?!?!! Oh, but she's "generously" going to waive any claim to his 401k, the house, the vehicles, the camper & boat. She did give a list of possessions she wants from the house...including (and it's worded in the court documents this way..."D's bedroom set, N's desk, and K's dresser." That right there tells you how non-parental the bitch is. Why would you want to take furnishings away from your kids? Is D supposed to sleep on the floor? What the hell?!?! That was struck when Leo objected to it. But the agreement is worked out, so to speak, and they go to court the 21st to sign. Leo was really worked up about the visitation thing. I told him that really, this gives her enough rope to hang herself. He does have the power to say no if he feels that the kids are in danger or she shouldn't see them. Then she will have to take him back to court. I am so thankful Dumbass never even hired a lawyer and I didn't have to fight for my divorce. There's more to update about, but it's time for me to get ready to go to Lincoln for photography class. Leave a Comment { Last Page } { Page 4 of 300 } { Next Page } |
