Slowly Getting Better

10:58 AM, Apr. 12, 2006 .. Posted in Feeling the pride .. 2 comments .. Link

I'm gradually beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully it's not a train.  Last week's funeral leave really put me behind at work, and I'm just now beginning to surface from the rubble. Then of course there's been the tax job, which will be coming to an end soon. I need to find another part time job but, I think I need to take a break from the whole 2-job thing for a while. Maybe I'll wait til after my sister's wedding to find one.

Shelby has started the countdown til summer vacation, only 24 days of school left as of today. Didn't she just start 6th grade? What do you mean she's almost done?! Her grades are way up since the end of 3rd quarter. Social studies is at an A+, Math that had been a D at mid-3rd quarter is up to a B+ and she has brought the B- in Science up to an A-. Yea for her! There is a Fine Arts Night coming up where Art Projects are displayed and the music students will play their pieces from contest. Shelby has 2 projects and will play with her small ensemble that got a Superior rating. She is also looking forward to the 6th grade camp-out the first week of May. Her dad has actually committed to going along to help out...I'm kinda leary about it.  His track record doesn't bode well, and somehow I have the suspicion that he'll only disappoint her again, but I have to keep my big mouth shut, since she's so happy that he's going. grrr... Then they are out of school on the 18th of May. Oh, and I can't forget the b-day on May Day! Where does the time go?

I'm so sorry for everything you have been going through...and am glad you seem to be handleing it well.

Shelby should be proud of bringing her grades up so much!!! My stepdaughter, Chelsea was failing algebra at the beginning of the semester and ended up with a C. A low C, but still a C. :-) Poor girl takes after her stepmama---I'm no good at math either.

I hope Dad comes thru with the trip!!!
