Family Game Night

11:29 PM, Jul. 20, 2008 .. 0 comments .. Link

Family game night rules.  I think it is the only time we get together and laugh and leave the outside world outside.  No stress, just family friendly competition.  My 14-year old loves and always wins at Monopoly (without cheating), Mom loves UNO and I love being with them while we all get along.

Nion made his own math game for school last year.  It helped with the QCC Standards.  Somehow, I always end up on the bomb and have to start over.  Needless to say, I am the loser.

There's also a math game called Buzz! that he played in school.  This math game requires a team effort to reach 100 without making a mistake.

HOW TO PLAY:
1. Players take turns counting, beginning with one. Every time a player gets to a number that's divisible by seven (7, 14, 21) or has a seven in it (17), they must say "Buzz" instead of the number.

2. If one person forgets to say "Buzz," everyone has to start over. If this is too hard for younger players, say "Buzz" for every number that's divisible by five.

3. If you want a real challenge, try Fuzz Buzz. Say "Fuzz" for every number with a three in it or that's divisible by three, and "Buzz" for every number with a seven in it or that's divisible by seven.

We get a little goofy playing this game.  But family game night is basically a family getting together to have fun.

Welcome . . . Again.

Hi.  I am new blogging and after typing an entry, I lost it out in cyberspace somehow.  So, Welcome . . . again.

I will be trying to add posts on a regular basis.  My family consists of a disabled, elderly mom (age 74) and two teenage sons (ages 19 and 14.)  My eldest son has his own apartment and lives approximately four miles away.  I saw him less when he lived with us.  My youngest son will be starting high school in August and is not happy.  He would like me to find the time (and brainpower) to research and prepare him to be homeschooled.  He told me about this a few hours ago.  School starts in about three weeks so I don't think it will be happening.

I love my mom.  Sometimes, she can be a hard pill to swallow.  Between her and the boys, I feel like a rubber band being stretched out of shape.  I am constantly being called and probably will start and stop this post a minimum of three times before I save it.

It's hard making end meet and being all things to everyone but I'm trying.  And with a few sympathetic listening ears, I'll keep trying.
